In a pre-taped player intro, Koivu introduced himself in French to 21,000 fans at Montreal’s Bell Centre Thursday night after yesterday’s shitstorm with Canadian politicians. “Ici Saku Koivu, voici mon equipe,” he said. (Saku Koivu here, this is my team.) The fans went crazy for it. Apparently, the statement was taped 10 days before the controversy erupted. Funnily enough, management thought it was a good time to play it on the scoreboard. Oh, and a bunch of other things happened, like Montreal winning and stuff.
