Sens: Doom and Gloom time or Guts and Glory?

The Ottawa Senators’ Dany Heatley ended a streak of 205 games with the Sens when he was  sidelined six weeks because of a separated right shoulder. Detroit forward Dallas Drake crushed Hot Hot Heatley into the boards in the second period of Saturday’s 3-2 victory over the Red Wings. Bummer, but they’ve got the talent to plug the hole, right? Maybe, but Sens centre Jason Spezza left Sunday night’s game against the New York Islanders after the first period. He’d been flattened by defenseman Freddy Meyer early in the game. The team said Spezza stayed off for “precautionary measures.” Hmmm… high flying Sens grounded? Not enough character to gut it out? We’ve seen this before, haven’t we? If Spezza is out, too,  it won’t be long before Daniel Alfredsson is riding the bike and talking to reporters about the meltdown…

  1. I don’t know what bearing this has, but Dallas Drake sounds like a a porn star’s name. Of either gender.
